Review Policy

***Update: September, 2014. I am currently serving on the Cybils Middle Grade Speculative Fiction panel. That means that I have over a hundred books to read between now and the end of the year. Unless your book is nominated for the Cybils, I will not have time to read it. Nominations open October 1, and are open to books published between October 16, 2013 and October 15, 2014. If your book is eligible, please nominate it and tell me about it! Otherwise, thank you for your patience – I’ll be back to considering other books for review next year. ***

I am happy to accept books for review. Please write and tell me about it! I will answer you back if I’m interested in your book. I am especially interested in middle grade and teen fantasy, science fiction, steampunk, and graphic novels, as well as adult books in those same genres. I review picture books fairly often as well, particularly if they are also fantasy, fairy-tale, or pirate related.

I prefer print review copies when possible, as they are easier for me to get to and can be donated as summer reading prizes to my library when I’m done with them. I can also accept ebooks in epub format. I review self-published books on a very limited basis, and am more interested in them if they have been professionally edited and designed and are available in print, so if this is the case, please let me know in your note.

I will try every book that I’m sent, but may not finish it if it’s not working for me. If I don’t finish it or if I find that I don’t have anything to say about it, I will not review it. Reviews will be honest, not necessarily positive. At this point, I only post reviews here, not on Amazon or Good Reads. My stacks of books waiting to be read and lists of books read and waiting for full review are long, so please expect a wait of at least two months between my getting a book and the review being posted.

I am also happy to participate in blog tours, giveaways, and author interviews if I have read and liked the book or previous books by the author. If I haven’t already read your book, please give me time to do so, so we can discuss if your book and my blog would be a good fit for a special posting.

Thank you for your interest in alibrarymama, and for helping me find good books to share with readers!
